This past April 30th I premiered a updated act at the fabulous Neon Moon, everybody's favourite local Burlesque Ball. Pictures to come soon, but while we wait I'm featured in a little snippet of the event video - the woman with green nipples downing a delicate cup of tea, that would be me. Five points if you spot me.  

Neon Moon is always a wonderful place to perform, and the other performers were super top notch at the Wonderland Ball - We had Joe Black (the burlesque Cruella de Ville), Missy Malone, Pi the Mime, Felipe the amazing arielist, and of course, Ruby Truelove, the queen of Neon Moon. What lovely folk!

This past Valentines day I performed at the gorgeous Baroque Ball at the Neon Moon Burlesque and Cabaret Club, and I think it had the most beautiful decor I have ever seen! There should totally be more Baroque themed stuff. It was such an honour to perform Burlesque on the Neon Moon stage: I've been performing belly dance, mermaiding, stage kittening and helpfully putting glitter on stuff for Neon Moon for years and have seen so many phenomenal performers dance on that stage, so I felt so proud to be performing there myself. 

At the ball I debuted my new act, Madame du Pompadour, inspired by a beautiful painting I saw in Prague. (Does that mean I can get my Prague holiday written off as a tax expense?). I came home and feverishly made the whole juicy turquoise costume, the corset, the dress, the lot.

On Feb 7th I was so excited to teach my Bringing Sexy Back Masterclass in London! I was teaching in a sandwich with the fab Alexis Southall which was a big honour for me, even though she is so down to earth she laughes at me when I tell her this. 

In my Bringing Sexy Back masterclass I bust the myths of what it means to be sexy onstage. Being seen as sexy is considered really important to the mainstream media's idea of what it means to be a woman, but how it's presented just makes a lot of us feel really alienated. It's about the hair, or the boobs, or the endless legs, or the photoshopped body. When we think of sexy dancing we think of hyper sexualised dance: Rhianna wiping her crotch on stuff, Britney being groped by hunky back up dancers, that kind of thing. I love showing women that dancing sexily or having a sexy dance persona has NOTHING TO DO with any of that stuff. It's so much more accessible and a part of who we are as real people. It's not a state of doing ,it's a state of being, as is most awesome performance stuff. 

I was so pleased to get so much good feedback from the class - women telling me that they had no idea how to "be" sexy feeling like they finally saw how they could be, ladies telling me that the whole being sexy thing was less scary now, and lots of peeps happy to go home with a bunch of tools and exercises to play with to up level their dancing skill. Yay!

The Serpentine Fatale was proud to launch our first Experience at St Catherine's May Ball earlier this summer! For the fantastic ball, set among the decadent 16th century architecture of St Catherine's college, we created a magical wonderland of creatures to surprise and interact with the guests and encourage the revelry!

In addition to our procession we had some exceptional character entertainers bringing magic to the May Ball - the beautiful Flower Goddess Stiltwalker amazed the crowds as a living piece of an enchanted forest, and was accompanied by our tall Satyr Stiltwalker, bouncing through the crows and dancing with the DJ's on his furry legs! 

Entertaining the guests through the late night were our cheeky Satyr character performers, encouraging guests to party hearty and making everyone laugh. They had a surprising number of requests for audience members to be able to stroke their furry tails.... 

And who did we bump into in the Cheese Room other than old college alumni, Sir Ian McKellen himself? We took a chance to chat to him about Demelza Fox's Gandalf burlesque act, and he told us he always thought he looked rather fetching in hotpants.
